Indulge in the delicate harmony of Jasmine Silver Needles, a naturally scented Yunnan white tea made by infusing spring-picked Silver Needle buds with fresh jasmine flowers. This loose leaf jasmine tea offers a graceful floral aroma with underlying sweetness of sugarcane and fruit

Tea facts:

Jasmine Silver Needles is made from pure spring buds carefully plucked in late March to early April in Simao, Yunnan. The base tea comes from the Yun Kang #10 varietal, a Yunnan large-leaf cultivar valued for its tender buds and gentle natural sweetness.

The buds themselves are known as Silver Needle — one of China’s most famous white teas, named for the fine silvery down that covers each young bud. Traditionally considered the highest grade of white tea, Silver Needle provides a pure and elegant foundation for jasmine scenting.

In May, when jasmine flowers reach full bloom, the tea is naturally scented by layering the buds with fresh blossoms. This process allows the floral fragrance to infuse deeply without artificial flavouring, creating a refined balance between the delicate sweetness of Silver Needle and the aroma of jasmine.

Region of Origin:

This tea originates from the mountains of Simao Prefecture, Yunnan Province, an area with fertile soils and misty, high-altitude conditions that nurture both fine white teas and fragrant jasmine.

Taste and Aroma:

The infusion reveals a clear, pale golden liquor with a soft jasmine fragrance. On the palate, it is smooth and naturally sweet, with notes reminiscent of sugarcane and fruit, lifted by a long, refreshing floral finish.

Interesting Facts:

Jasmine tea has been cherished in China for centuries, with origins tracing back to the Song Dynasty (960–1279). Once considered an elegant delicacy, it was often served at the imperial court. In Chinese culture, jasmine blossoms symbolise love, elegance, and hospitality — offering a cup of jasmine tea is still seen as a gesture of warmth and respect.

Although jasmine tea has a history of nearly a thousand years, Jasmine Silver Needles is a more recent creation, combining the traditional art of jasmine scenting with the refined base of Silver Needle white tea.

Brewing Guide:

We recommend 5-6 grams of tea per 100ml of volume. Begin with 10 second rinse to awaken the buds, then infuse at 85 °C. The tea can be enjoyed over multiple brews, each releasing new layers of jasmine and sweetness. Steep the tea in successive short infusions: about 10, 15, 20, 30, 45 seconds, and then around a minute for each brew until the leaves are spent.

For a Western-style cup, use about 2 g of tea per 200 ml water and steep for 2–3 minutes at 80 °C. This method produces a smooth, aromatic cup that balances jasmine fragrance with the gentle character of white tea.

Perfect For:

An elegant choice for calm afternoons, light desserts, or moments of quiet reflection. Its floral sweetness also makes it refreshing as an iced tea or cold brew, perfect for warmer days when you want a cooling yet aromatic drink.
